With the Obama administration’s release of what have become known, unfortunately, as the “torture memos” the conversation on the topic is skewed from the beginning. Torture memos? Why not “interrogation memos?” or “legal opinions on the treatment of terrorists?” The “torture memo” tag casts the verdict on the subject without debating it.
