Sheldon Lavin has established himself as a pioneer in the food manufacturing industry. He is the Chairman and CEO of OSI Group. OSI Group is a leader in its industry. The company has been in business for over 100 years. It is a trendsetter in several different markets within food manufacturing. OSI has continued to grow throughout the years by supporting its staff and reaching out to different aspects of the business arena. Lavin had the vision to take the company into international territory many years ago. OSI Group consistently expands its influence around the world.

OSI Group began as a small family-owned business in the early 1900’s. It provided product to food service companies in the Chicago area. In the 1950’s the company developed a working relationship with the McDonald’s Corporation. This would take the small family-owned organization to another level. Sheldon Lavin was brought in to act as a consultant.

Otto and Sons, as the company was known at the time, developed a state-of-the-art meat processing plant to support its responsibilities to the McDonald’s Corporation. They introduced many innovative ideas to meat manufacturing that set them apart from their contemporaries. Before long Otto and Sons was the number one supplier of products to the McDonald’s Corporation.

Sheldon Lavin was asked to be more involved. He had developed a great relationship with the executives at McDonald’s. Sheldon agreed and came on as a partner with Otto and Sons.

Sheldon Lavin became Chairman and CEO of the company after the original founders settled into retirement. At this point Lavin pushed for international growth and began to develop working relationships with other major food organizations outside of the McDonald’s Corporation. The company became known as OSI Group soon after.

Sheldon Lavin continues to set the example at OSI Group. He is proud of the fact that they have been able to maintain the same momentum throughout the decades. Lavin believes this is due to the low turnover among his staff. OSI currently has a worldwide network of employees who are very loyal to the organization.
